Pipelayer

Pihl Excavating is currently looking for a motivated and reliable Pipelayer to join our Team.

What your daily experience will look like within our Team
• Installation of sanitary, storm, and water line pipe runs
• Aligning and positioning pipe for connection
• Cutting pipe and sealing joints
• Grade checking with lasers and verifying slopes
• Utilizing a variety of hand tools
• Supporting Foremen and Site Superintendents on an as needed basis
• Performing a range of additional activities and tasks on the jobsites when necessary
• Delivering high quality service by following organizational standards
• Contributing to our team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Qualifications
• 2 years of experience is preferred, but not a requirement
• Adhering to all OSHA confined space and trench safety regulations
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Capable of working 40+ hours a week and/or weekends when necessary

Top Hand

Pihl Excavating is currently looking for a motivated and reliable Top Hand to join our Team.

What your daily experience will look like within our Team
• Working closely with equipment operators and pipelayers
• Helping install shoring when required
• Grade checking with lasers and verifying slopes
• Utilizing a variety of hand tools
• Properly following all state and federal agency safety procedures
• Supporting Foremen and Site Superintendents on an as needed basis
• Maintaining a clean jobsite
• Performing a range of additional activities and tasks on the jobsites when necessary
• Delivering high quality service by following organizational standards
• Contributing to our team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Qualifications
• 2 years of experience is preferred, but not a requirement
• Ability to remain focused and deliver results in a fast-paced work environment
• General knowledge of underground utility work including materials, means and methods, and tools utilized in the process
• Familiar with cutting/beveling with a Cut Off Saw
• Ability to operate heavy equipment is beneficial, but not required
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Capable of working 40+ hours a week and/or weekends when necessary

Foreman

Foreman

We are currently seeking an experienced Excavation and Utilities Foreman to join our team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Orchestrating detail specific day to day jobsite operational plans for equipment, labor, supplies, etc.
• Optimization of all available resources
• Ensuring expectations and timelines are met
• Consistently rendering the pinnacle of high quality of workmanship
• Delivering efficient and streamlined production costs
• Providing training opportunities for laborers and operators
• Facilitating a clean and safe work environment
• Maintaining clean and safe equipment
• Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
• Creating a positive work environment and promoting high morale for our crews

Qualifications
• 3-Year minimum experience as a working Foreman managing activity on jobs, directing labor, and running heavy equipment
• Ability to provide boots on the ground direction and leadership to crews while working in tandem with them
• Experience with demolition, excavation, grading, road construction, and underground utilities
• Critical thinking and high function problem solving are a must
• Familiarity with CAT, John Deere, Kobelco, and Komatsu heavy equipment
• Capable of delivering high-yield production with limited supervision in a fast-paced work environment
• Possess or be willing to obtain competent person and cpr/first aid certifications
• Willingness to work 40+ hours per week and weekends on an as needed basis
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• A CDL is not required but preferred
• Employment may be contingent upon MVR approval of company insurance provider

Pilot/Shop Hand

Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Pilot driving for Heavy Equipment moves on an as needed basis
• Performing a variety of tasks to support field, shop, and yard operations
• Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
• Maintaining clean and safe equipment
• Sustaining a clean and safe work environment
• Working outside on projects on an as needed basis

Qualifications
• Capable of delivering high-yield results with at times limited supervision in a fast-paced work environment
• Mechanical repair knowledge is not required, but beneficial
• Ability to work 40+ hours per week and weekends
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in backing-up and towing trailers
• Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Employment may be contingent upon MVR approval of company insurance provider

Truck Driver

Truck Driver

Pihl Excavating is currently looking for a motivated and reliable CDL Truck Driver to join our Team.

What your daily experience will look like within our Team
• Performing daily pre-trip/post-trip inspections and equipment inspections
• Maintaining a daily log book
• Transporting equipment and materials to and from jobsites
• Accurately recording weight of equipment and materials hauled
• Occasionally performing additional activities and tasks on the jobsites when necessary
• Delivering high quality service by following organizational standards
• Contributing to our team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Qualifications
• A valid Oregon Unrestricted Class A CDL license with tanker endorsement, medical card, and clean driving record
• Hazmat certification is beneficial, but not a requirement
• Experience operating Dump Trucks, Truck and Pup, End Dumps, Traveling Axle Trailers, Tilt Deck Trailers, Water Trucks, and Flatbed Trucks
• A proven safety record and compliance with all state and federal agency safety regulations
• Knowledge of the Greater Portland Metro Area
• A self-driven individual capable of delivering measurable results daily with limited supervision
• Comfortable climbing up and down from trailer decks
• Displaying excellent communication skills within our company and with our external partners
• Piloting experience is preferred, but not a condition of employment
• Capable of working 40+ hours a week and/or weekends when necessary

Project Manager

Project Manager

Pihl Excavating is an earth moving company dedicated to high-quality workmanship based out of Banks Oregon.

We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to join our team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Manage multiple projects simultaneously. Review and approve timecards for all assigned projects. Review plans and specifications. Review contract documents from clients and obtain signatures. Prepare change orders and obtain signatures. Prepare budgeted costs for change orders. Prepare subcontract agreements and obtain signatures. Prepare monthly billings for all assigned projects. Prepare and update construction schedules. Communicate with Site Superintendents daily. Schedule subcontractors and visit job sites, as necessary. Attend meetings with clients, engineers and jurisdictions. Follow up on punch lists. Obtain final inspections and prepare closeout documents.

You will need

• Motivation to drive continuous improvement processes
• At least three years of construction project management experience
• Experience with (CRM) Customer relationship management

• Software (AutoCAD Civil, HCSS HeavyBid, HCSS HeavyJob, HCSS Plans, AGTEK earthwork)
